NCDEU 2010: Learning From the Past to Advance the Future of Mental Health Treatment - June 14-17, 2010 Boca Raton Hotel Boca Raton, FL

For the past half-century, the NCDEU scientific meeting has focused on the
latest developments in psychopharmacologic clinical research and related methodology. To celebrate NCDEU’s 50th Anniversary, this year’s meeting will feature special sessions around the theme of Learning from the Past to Advance the Future of Mental Health Treatment. Presentations will include both how the field arrived at this point and the implications for clinical practice and further investigation going forward:

How have changes in approaches to diagnosis led to changes in the
approaches to drug development?

How can diagnosis be best addressed in future drug development efforts?

What new strategies for collaboration (e.g., industry/academia/government)
   might speed the development of biomarkers and drug development?

How can new technological advances (e.g., methods of patient monitoring
   or data collection and analysis) be integrated in clinical trials?

How can we maximize the potential utility of public data sets?

What special issues are involved in the conduct of trials examining
   combined treatments?

How can studies be designed to examine individuals with illnesses
   co-occurring with mental disorders, including physical, substance use,
   and other mental illnesses?

How can interventions be tailored to different types of providers and different
   intervention settings?

How can newly discovered effective mental health interventions be
   disseminated and implemented?

What adaptive designs can be used in trials of combined psychosocial and
   biomedical interventions?
